Here’s what I’ve learned in the 3000 days since I’ve had a sip of alcohol….
-
The craving to drink DOES go away. And when it does….it’s soooooo nice.
-
I’ve had a BAJILLION Day 1s. Not giving up is the most important decision you’ll ever make!
-
Sobriety doesn’t magically fix your life. But it does give you the clarity, energy, resources and strength to do the work that will!!
-
Sobriety is actually super fun.
-
Having “just one drink” is about as satisfying as getting just the tip during sex. Hard pass.
-
Real connection happens when you show up as your true self, not your tipsy alter ego.
-
Focusing on what you’re gaining (freedom, health, time, self-respect, trust) rather than what you miss helps keep you motived!
-
Also, it’s TOTALLY NORMAL and ok to grieve alcohol and miss the unhinged chaos of it all.
-
Finding sober community is a GAME-CHANGER!!!! You could totally do it solo … but it will probably be way more of a struggle and way less fun. I always hear this from the girlies at my retreats: “I wish I found sober community sooner!” It’s a HUGE reason why I created YSP Adventures, to help you find sober sisterhood (and get into some sober shenanigans).
-
Socializing sober is awkward AFFFFF at first. But it gets easier over time and eventually SUPER FUN! In the meantime….embrace the awk!

-
Just focus on the next right thing, instead of trying to fix your entire life at once. Trust the upward spiral!
-
Sobriety is the ultimate life hack, especially in a society that is obsessed with booze.
-
Sobriety does not make you a better person than anyone else, but it DOES make you a better parent, friend, partner, etc.
-
Be patient and stay curious. You’re re-learning who you are!! Try new things (and allow yourself to suck).
-
New adventures and exploration helps you stay connected to that wild, spontaneous, carefree side of yourself that you loved when you drank.
-
Learning to be with your emotions without judging or reacting is a SUPERPOWER! snaps fingers
-
There is no “right” way to get sober. Keep trying something new and stay open-minded and you WILL find what clicks for you!!!
-
Sobriety makes it possible for you to become the person you were MEANT TO BE! And I’m so excited for you to meet that baddie.
And in case nobody has told you yet today - I am so stinkin’ proud of you for never giving up!
